2–4 Weeks Before Surgery
- Attend your pre-operative appointment and complete any required testing or labs
- Review your medication list with our office — some medications, especially blood thinners and certain supplements, may need to be paused before surgery
- Arrange your transportation home and a support person for the first several days
- Begin preparing your home for recovery (grab bars, clear pathways, recovery station)
- Confirm your insurance authorization and understand your coverage
1 Week Before Surgery
- Stop taking any medications your surgical team has instructed you to pause
- Arrange for help with meals, errands, and household tasks during early recovery
- Fill any prescriptions in advance so they're ready when you get home
- Confirm your arrival time and any final instructions from the hospital or surgery center
The Night Before Surgery
- Follow all instructions regarding eating and drinking — typically nothing after midnight unless otherwise directed
- Shower using any antiseptic wash if instructed by our office
- Remove nail polish and jewelry
- Lay out comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for the day of surgery
- Get a good night's rest
What to Bring on Surgery Day

- Any required paperwork from your pre-op visit
- Loose, comfortable clothing for the trip home
- Glasses or hearing aids, if applicable (rather than contacts)
